Jo has been a physiotherapist for over 30 years. Currently, Jo describes herself as a Transformational Somatic Therapist, as she understands & knows that we cannot separate the body-mind-spirit from every aspect of our lives and our health. Accessing our inner wisdom is a key to healing.

There is so much research in many fields associated with health including the pain sciences, trauma, breath work, mindfulness meditation, presence, mindfulness of sensations, consciousness, sound-vibrational sciences, neuroscience & the human biofield, amongst many others.

How stress, traumas , faulty patterns & faulty beliefs influence our true health are Jo's particular interests. She is aware that our emotions, how we use our physical body, our thoughts and our environment- both internal and external- combine to give us our overall wellness/health expression. Our posture reflects our mental & emotional state. We can change our mental & emotional state by altering our posture, changing our breath patterns. All of us have these influencing our lives to some degree. Nearly all cases presenting to Jo in the physiotherapy clinic have an unresolved emotional component or dysregulated nervous system component to them - they are rarely only physical injuries. There are many tools Jo has learned to assist with resourcing ourselves & recognising & transmuting these sabotaging influences.

Jo is not a trauma therapist or psychologist and she refers /or recommends clients to these practitioners, if required.

Jo has learned many fresh approaches from fields outside of physiotherapy and has integrated them into her own life as part of her own self care & true health discipline, as well as teaching others how to use the same tools to enrich their own lives. Jo starts every morning with breath work & meditation. Exercise in some form including yoga also are performed most days also for physical health.

Jo has long been aware of how our childhood experiences and how our collective and ancestral traumas can influence us and our mental, emotional, physical & spiritual health and has addressed (and continues to address) her own set of faulty patterns and beliefs & traumas that have impacted her life. she knows it is a lifelong journey into discovering more and more of her SELF....and she knows nobody can do this work for her...it must be done herself but others can be her guides, therapists or catalysts as Jo seeks to be a guide for YOU.

In 2021, Jo had a road cycling accident which resulted in fractures & 8 weeks off work. She used her recovery to go inward even more, expand her understanding of inner healing & to put into practice the tools she teaches.

Jo sees herself as a catalyst who does not do the work for you but teaches, guides and assists you to change your SELF. IF YOU are prepared to make the effort to be something different then great changes can unfold.

Apart from constantly learning more about the various aspects of true health and applying them to her own life, Jo used to enjoy running and has completed 18 marathon distances including 2 Boston Marathons. She also has cycled, done archery and yoga.

Learn to reconnect with your inner wisdom

Please note: Jo is no longer practicing as a traditional manual therapy physiotherapist. She is using all her knowledge from physiotherapy & combining it with all her integrated knowledge about how the body really heals itself to create a new field that has emerged from her physiotherapy knowledge base. She is utilising cutting edge neuroscience & mindfulness & psychotherapeutic approaches & more. True health cannot be attained if we keep the body, mind, spirit & the influence of our environment out of the equation.
